A patient falls and suffers a cut or laceration on his hand. The wound may get contaminated. Any cut of the skin barrier can get infected. If it is not treated appropriately with control of bleeding, removal of foreign bodies, sterilization and primary closure, the chance of infection will increase significantly. |
